Jasper: The Story of a Mule, offers wholesome themes such as, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,” and, “Always try to do your best.” Inspired by her father, “Peanuts” cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, Meredith wrote the story to introduce kids to mules and also to help teach them respect for all living things.
And Meredith couldn’t have had a better team on the project. Tennessee Mule Artist Bonnie Shields illustrated Jasper: The Story of a Mule and all of the other books in the series. For animated DVD, Meredith went to legendary animator Bill Melendez, whose credits include the “Peanuts” holiday specials and scores of cartoons. Western band Riders In The Sky wrote and performed the soundtrack, which also includes music by up-and-coming country/western singer/songwriter Mindy Ellis. Mindy also supplies the voice of Kylie and actor Lee Horsley, formerly TV’s Matt Houston, narrates the story.
