More about Lee Horsley

Born in the tiny town of Muleshoe, TX,actor Lee Horsley started singing in church as a youngster in the Denver area. His vocal talents eventually leading him to tour in stage productions of "West Side Story", "Damn Yankees", "Oklahoma!" and "1776" prior to his arrival in Hollywood. He began his TV career as detective Archie Goodwin (opposite William Conrad) in the 1981 NBC drama series "Nero Wolfe".

A true outdoors man, who enjoys fly fishing and horseback riding. Horsley has lent his six-foot-four-inch rugged good looks to a wide array of TV movies including "Agatha Christie's, 13 at Dinner" (CBS, 1985), "Danielle Steels' Palomino" (NBC, 1991) and "The Corpse Had a Familiar Face" (CBS, 1994). In addition, Lee was in ABC miniseries, "North and South: Book II" and "Crossings" (both 1988). After short series runs with "Guns of Paradise" (ABC, 1988), Lee landed the part of wealthy rancher, Gamder Poole (opposite Bo Derek) on NBC's "Wind on Water" as a wealthy Hawaiian rancher (1998).

Lee Horsley has enjoyed a 20 year career as the star of six television series. They have aired on ABC, NBC, CBS, and worldwide. He is best known as the millionaire detective Matt Houston (ABC, 1982-1985). He was a gunfighter raising four children, as Ethan Cord, in the old west in Paradise. In Nero Wolfe, he portrayed the famous sleuth's right hand man, Archie Goodwin. James Fenimore Cooper's novels were the inspiration for Hawkeye (syndicated 1994-95) where he played the legendary frontiersman. In Bodies of Evidence (ABC, 1992-93) he was a homicide detective, in Wind on Water.

There are many miniseries and made for television movies to Lee's credit. His first among several feature films, The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982), has become a cult classic. Lee's "overnight success" grew out of an extensive legitimate theatre background. His most notable performance starring in the musical Mack and Mabel was at the request of the celebrated composer, Jerry Herman.

Lee has been honored with a PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD and by the NATIONAL COWBOY HALL OF FAME. He was named "Best actor in a Television Movie" by THE VIEWER'S VOICE, advocates for quality television. His name has been commemorated on THE WALK OF WESTERN STARS.

Lee has performed in several celebrity rodeos, showing his expertise in horsemanship, and devotes time to outdoor and ranching groups on a conservation level, promoting the belief that humans and nature can coexist where there's mutual respect and live-and-let-live ideals that help us preserve their freedom while appreciating their majesty and beauty.
